Hello,

does anyone know if insulation in the window reveal is mandatory? In other words, an accepted rule of technology?

The masonry is monolithic construction, i.e. only one stone.

Unfortunately, the construction company installed the window reveal very poorly and now I am worried that they will remove it if I write a notice of defects. Of course, nothing is contractually agreed.

Best regards

No, insulation is not needed there - that’s why you build monolithically.

I don’t understand anything there. Please provide photos of how a reveal is installed.

At many spots, a large amount of foam was applied generously and the window frame will disappear completely including the plaster. You can also see that on the yellow and white strip.

Foam partly 10 to 16mm and the reveal insulation about 35mm. Both together I find quite a lot.

Can you tell from the insulating foam or the color whether it is even suitable for the installation of the reveal insulation?

Overall, this looks to me almost textbook foolishness. How does the tradesman justify bonding some - in my impression, random - insulation material in the foam bed?

The site manager said the insulation was only fixed. The craftsman did not comment on this at all. They immediately built over it after the photos and my email. My expert only asked questions and gave hints. He left me unclear about what really is a defect and what is not.
