Installing laminate correctly

Hi, I would like to install laminate flooring, which I have already purchased, and I want to know if a 1 cm gap to the sides for "expansion" is enough or if I should leave more space, although I believe that the baseboards only cover 1 cm from the wall, so at the beginning with more than 1 cm gap the floor would still be visible.
