Hello everyone and a happy new year!
I have a question about the proper installation of our ventilation system.
The plumbing company that installed our system still had to rework the ventilation outlets in the ceilings. In doing so, the guys shortened the metal parts in the ceiling so that the valve cover can sit flush with the ceiling.
When asked whether it would be better to plug the outlets to prevent dirt from entering the pipes or at least to turn off the system, the installers reacted indifferently and said that this was not necessary. Now I have looked at the pipes and found that there are already various deposits of dust and metal parts from grinding in the ventilation hoses.
When researching our construction photos, it also became clear that during no construction phase were the ventilation outlets sealed, so dirt had free access here as well. However, the system was not yet running at that time, so at least it did not suck in any dirt.
In the last few weeks, however, the system has been in operation and various grinding works etc. took place that involved dust development.
What is actually proper practice? Must the outlets be sealed during the construction phase or can they remain open? And what about the grinding work, is it advisable to have the pipes cleaned again?
Thank you very much for your help
