Hello everyone,
I would like to install a Velux Energy Plus window measuring 78cm x 118cm in my semi-detached house from 1986 with a hipped roof. This is not a replacement but a new installation. The rafter width is consistently 84cm and thus exactly the required dimension from Velux to install the EDZ MK06 2000 flashing frame.

I am not an expert in this field, but I have watched a very informative video series on YouTube that really goes into every step of the work. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that I can trust myself to do this work. Otherwise, I also do a lot of things myself around the house.

I now have two questions regarding the underlay membrane and the vapor barrier under the insulation.

About the underlay membrane:
Today I removed 4 roof tiles to see what I am actually facing under the tiles (condition of the insulation and underlay membrane).
The underlay membrane looks like a kind of thin roofing felt. I believe that nowadays it is a thin foil that is overlapped and glued. This one is in poor condition. Torn everywhere. Where it is still intact, it is extremely porous.
The rain drainage channel is installed over the Velux window and is supposed to be mounted together with the underlay membrane and the window apron to prevent water from running behind.
With a damaged underlay membrane, that actually makes no sense, does it? Should I maybe only connect the drainage channel with the window apron and seal underneath the drainage channel so that no water can still get from above onto the Velux window?

About the vapor barrier:
The Velux window comes with a vapor barrier apron. I am aware that I have to connect it with tape to the vapor barrier under the insulation. So far so good.
However, I don’t have a vapor barrier as I thought. Aluminized insulating wool was installed in my house. How do I connect the Velux vapor barrier apron to the roof? Is it possibly glued to the rafters with adhesive?

I hope I was able to explain my questions understandably.

Thank you very much for your help
