Hello,
I have noticed that in an unheated attic room, no vapor barrier was installed. It was insulated with rock wool between the rafters and clad with wooden panels. I realized this after the room smelled somewhat sour during strong temperature fluctuations outside.
Question: could I leave the wooden panels as they are, apply vapor barrier sheets, seal them on the walls, and cover the foil with new panels, finished. This would have the advantage that a nice substructure would remain due to the existing panels, and an optimal sealing of the foil on the walls could be achieved.
I am grateful for any answers.
