Good morning dear community. I have bought an existing property and now want to remove a wall here. The structural engineer has already been on site and has carried out the calculations for the choice of the beams.

An HEA 100 will be chosen as the support beam and an HEB 140 as the ceiling beam. The wall has already been removed and is supported by various masonry strips down to the basement.

Is it correct that I now first concrete the base of the support beam and the ceiling beam into masonry (mortar bed)? Of course, the beams will be welded together beforehand. Once these two support points have hardened, I then seal the mortar joint with underfilling mortar from the company QuickMix. Would the load transfer to the ceiling beam then be ensured?

Or do I have to apply mortar to the ceiling beam, press it up to the ceiling with masonry strips, and then shore up the support beam with wedges?

I would appreciate a few tips and suggestions.

Best regards
