Hello everyone,

we are currently building our single-family house and have deliberately decided against spotlights in the roof overhang and would like to illuminate the building from below.

However, we are very uncertain about the following topics:

- Number of lights
- Placement of the lights
- Beam angle
- Which lights are recommended? The garage door should also be illuminated, so the lights would need to be drive-over capable, etc.

In short, this is completely new territory for us and I would be happy if some ideas could be thrown into the discussion.

You can find an exterior view of our single-family house attached.

Thank you very much :)

Best regards

Oh God please don't do that ... ever heard of light pollution?
How often is that supposed to be on, how many lights are you thinking of?
Your house is not a historic landmark... do you have neighbors? Well, they will be grateful ....

I would never do this permanent effect lighting. Light where you need it, but no more.

It is not supposed to stay on permanently anyway. Mostly it runs via motion detectors.

Light pollution is actually not something I'm familiar with yet. I'll read up on it tomorrow. If I let the light from the roof overhang shine downward, the difference isn't that huge, or am I wrong?

From below it is more complicated because you have to be very careful not to cause glare. Striplights built into the floor always have problems with condensation, ground spikes do not stay firmly in place… And it usually looks unnecessarily dramatic.
