Ikea Udden work table / wire shelf

Hello dear ones,

now it has happened to me too.... problems with the assembly :oops: :( :

I bought the wire rack for my Udden work table. However, I am not managing the assembly at all.
Every time I tighten the screws at the top, both brackets (left and right) "bend" inward. One bracket is then additionally fixed at the bottom, so that the entire thing is "only" under tension there, but fairly straight.
On the other side, however, the bracket can only be screwed in at the top, and thus bends quite a bit inward.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have experience with the wire rack? Thanks!!!

The rear part is not a big deal, right?
If you screw on the front part and then hold it at the bottom and bend it slightly forward, it should work, right?
I think that during production, the brackets were not welded 100% straight, so it will probably point slightly inward. It's not correct, but by gently pulling it outward, it should be fine. But please do it carefully. Otherwise, the weld points will tear and then it will break off.
When bending: Think of an arc (with an arrow). If you feel it getting harder, give in briefly and then pull a bit again. Like a seesaw. But always with feeling. That way, you can stretch a weld seam without damaging it much.

I tried bending it, but the parts are still so sturdy that it doesn’t really work. I’m already thinking about just returning it. Is that possible if the parts have already been unpacked? Thanks!

Of course, it is ultimately a product defect if it cannot be assembled. But don't forget the receipt, otherwise no warranty. Then no refund or exchange is possible.
