Ikea Pax sliding door light strip on top does not turn off automatically

Hello everyone,

we bought the Ikea Pax cabinet with frosted glass sliding doors and the Ikea LED light strip Översidan. Since our sliding doors are equipped with dampers, I hung a shelf board under the damper and directly under the board the light strip. However, the light does not turn off when the door is closed. I did a test by hanging sheets on the frosted glass and then it works. But that can’t be right. Am I doing something wrong?
