Hello everyone,
actually this theoretically doesn’t belong here – but since kitchen cabinets are being used, I’m trying my luck here.
We have noticed that we lack storage space in the office – unfortunately my wife still needs a lot of Leitz binders for work (over 80 pieces). Therefore, we need more space.
Our study is 3.82m long and the niche at the top is about 1.82cm. We definitely want a closed system with doors – so, for example, Billy is out. Besta as well, as the quality apparently leaves much to be desired nowadays.
I am attaching my plan below once with the Metod corner cabinet and once without. My wife thinks that the corner cabinet might look a bit bulky. What do you think? On the short side there will be a worktop installed on which three 60-wide units will be placed, and double sockets will be retrofitted on the left and right. The printer and other stuff will stand there – however, the niche is overall 70cm high. It would be better to use 100cm high wall cabinets as below. However, since we have two height-adjustable desks on the long side, that wouldn’t fit anymore because when raising them, my monitor would hit the wall cabinet.
On the left I have a total of 5 x 60-wide Metod units at 80cm height, then the corner cabinet, then 2 x 40-wide and 1 x 30-wide. That looks the calmest to me. The plan without the corner cabinet looks very restless in my opinion. Besides, we want as few doors as possible.
Then one more question specifically about Ikea: Are there lower cover panels at IKEA where you can directly integrate an LED lighting? When I sit at the desk and constantly see the screws from below, I get plaque. I saw something like this in green color in the showroom over the weekend – but now I can’t find anything anymore. Anyone have an idea? And do you actually use the side cover panels for below?
You can forget about the windows/openings on the right and bottom – there is only a wall including the TV on the right and the windows come at the bottom. Actually, this L-shape is the space available.
Looking forward to your tips.
