Hello,

I am currently planning my Metod kitchen and the planner tells me that I should leave at least 5 cm of space to the wall on the right side so that all drawers and cabinet doors open properly - so far so good.

Are these 5 cm enough or should one plan more/less?

And: How is this gap covered? Are there special panels with fittings or do I have to take a corresponding front, cut it to size, and then attach it with brackets and screws?

Thanks for the help.

Hello

It depends on your wall. If it is actually perpendicular to the cabinet and also flat, less will be enough. With 5cm you are basically on the safe side. An exception would be a door that opens towards the wall and inside drawers behind it; if there is also a protruding handle, it could get tight there.

To close the gap, you cut a piece out of a side panel, for example

Ringhult
Side panel, high gloss white

and attach it as you described with brackets.
