Hello dear community,

I am about to furnish a new apartment and would like to put a Karlstad couch in the living room.
However, I love sofas with chaises and would also like to have a sofa bed.

There is the 3-seater Karlstad sofa bed for just under 900 euros.
There is also the chaise longue extension.
At Ikea, I was told twice independently that the two are not compatible with each other.
The first time they just said "no, it doesn't work."
The second time I managed to get the salesperson to admit that something would get misaligned. However, she couldn't tell me what, and it was not apparent from the displayed furniture either.

What is clear: I would have to attach the guide for the bed box to the chaise. Easily done.

Could someone please, please, please be found here who has done exactly that and reassure me so I can buy this combination?

Hello Tosoro,

did you manage the combination of sofa bed recamiere? I am facing exactly the same problem...

Thanks and regards

Hello, if Tosoro has not activated the email notification, he probably will not read it. We will see. Otherwise, from the assembly instructions, I see no reason why it should not work. I would buy both, carefully open the packaging and first try it without covers to see if it works. If not, carefully pack it back as it was and return it.

So, here is the answer: It doesn't work.

Mechanically, the base frame fits the chaise longue as far as I can tell. The chaise longue and side part anyway.

But the fun is spoiled by the cover, as it is one piece from the side part over the back to the other side part. If you don't have experience sewing heavily stressed fabrics, you're out of luck here. Everything is under quite a bit of tension.
The cover from the "normal" 3-seater sofa cannot be used because of different cushions.

Backup plan: The ottoman! It's more flexible anyway

Regards!

Thank you for the feedback. Learned something new again. The first thought on this is that you could take the cover of the regular sofa, but it is narrower than the bed version. How impractical.
