Hello,

I would like to install the red Ringhult decorative strip at the bottom of the wall cabinets in my kitchen with white Ringhult fronts. However, the total height of 6cm is too massive for me, which is why I want to mount the strip tilted by 90°, just as it is intended on top of the wall cabinet with a thickness of 2cm:

In my opinion, this wastes quite a bit of "potential." My idea now was to cut the strip lengthwise along the mounting edge, as you can see here:

Has anyone done this before or are there any opinions on this?

Best regards
Steffen

I would do it the way you plan. Halve it lengthwise with a circular saw, make a nice miter cut with a chop saw.

As the Ikea expert pointed out, there is a risk that the foil will come loose due to steam in the area of the miter cut. But since the strip is hardly touched/stressed at the top edge, I don't see much danger. Even at the bottom edge of the hanging cabinets, these decorative strips are used, and there they are much more exposed to steam. According to the instructions, the cut edge does not need to be treated additionally with clear lacquer or similar after shortening. But it wouldn't hurt.
