Hello community,

In the new living room, I want to hang a 180cm TV stand on the wall. According to the instructions, no wall rail is needed, only 4 screws that are supposed to hold everything. I have to buy screws and plugs myself, or what kind should I use? I can't quite imagine if this construction will hold at all! Has anyone of you ever installed it as described in the instructions? Maybe it would be smarter to use 2x 120cm cabinets and attach them with a wall rail. Is it absolutely necessary to screw the TV to the wall as well, or can it also be placed on the cabinets?

It would be cool if answers can be found

Regards Fabian

Hello,

the suspension of the 180 cm TV stand is more stable than that of the others with a wall rail. Otherwise, the information on the Ikea page should be noted: "The TV stand can be loaded with a maximum of 50 kg on the top. When wall-mounted, the maximum load of the TV stand depends on the wall material." With a load of 50 kg, quite a high force already acts on the dowels and screws. I would feel more comfortable if the TV is then mounted on the wall.

I am quite sure that the maximum load only applies when the piece of furniture is standing on the floor (and not when mounted on the wall). Now the question arises what Ikea means by "standing on the floor." This certainly applies when the furniture is used with the supplied feet (the round plastic discs). However, it is not quite clear whether "standing on the floor" also applies when Nannarp legs including support leg(s) or other legs including support leg(s) are used. The maximum specified load does not apply in the case of wall mounting.
