Ikea Besta/Framsta TV Combination

Hello,

I am planning to get the Besta/Framsta TV combination with the glass panels. Unfortunately, the glass panels are safety glass, meaning you cannot cut a hole for the cables there. Has anyone already solved this problem? Is it possible to saw/file down the aluminum rails of the Framsta elements so that the cables can fit through??

There is no solution for that yet, they are probably working on new glass :)

I am facing the same problem and came up with a solution to saw through a connecting rail between two panel elements twice and omit the middle piece (about 10 - 15 cm wide). This creates a gap between two glass panels where almost all conceivable cables should fit. The entire construction should still be stable enough, as it will be screwed to the pipe elements on the sides.

However, the cables would have to be routed before the final assembly, as most plugs probably will no longer fit through this gap later.

For me, it will be mid-March when I assemble this solution. I can then report whether the theory worked in practice.

I am also interested in when Ikea might offer an alternative solution. Maybe still in time before I assemble everything.

So, the new glass panels are ready. They will probably be available for purchase from 1.4. You no longer need to cut/mill an opening .. as they are already pre-cut :)
