IKEA BESTA - different colors someday?

After being a passive reader here in the forum for a while, I have registered. I am a regular Ikea visitor and am planning to furnish my living room anew soon.

[Besta] seems to fit quite well and is pretty flexible, but I can't really warm up to the colors. Black and black-brown or the wood pattern are out because the room would become too dark. I don't know how quickly one gets tired of gray and red. That leaves only white. hm. I think the color selection was already available last year. How long do such colors usually stay in the program on average? With the [Billy] shelves, the colors also change more or less regularly if I'm not mistaken.

There is not really a regular color change. Apart from the discontinuation of the plastic-coated "colorful" shelves, nothing has changed for BILLY for ages. I can assure you that BESTA will at least not come in a different color next year. It also surprises me that there has never been a light wood type like birch, for example, if you exclude the discontinued ash.
