Ice cubes from the freezer taste musty

I am currently facing the decision to buy a side-by-side refrigerator with an ice maker for my new kitchen.

With an acquaintance of mine who has had such a thing for years, I find that the ice cubes always taste musty. However, the special thing about him is that he has well water.

Now my question is: Is that normal? Do the ice cubes possibly taste musty (if they sit in the appliance for a while) or is it probably due to the well water?

What are your experiences?

Hm... I basically think that frozen ice, which is not properly packaged, meaning it sits around in the dishwasher container for a while, always has a strange taste/smell. But I also taste the refrigerator flavor in dairy products like cream. Some don't smell anything... less... I think it smells. Others might not have such sensitive noses.

I can confirm that. I don't like the ice cream from the fridge either. Doesn't matter if it's from the dispenser or from the open molds.
