Hello everyone,
we now have our floor plan pretty much finalized and will have to decide on a general contractor at some point. We want "everything from a single source" to have one person responsible.
We are currently in talks with 2 medium-sized regional providers for solid houses, but we definitely want to look at a small, local one as well.
The problem is that we are not very well connected in the area and hardly know anyone. So real recommendations are almost out of the question. The references given by the construction companies - well, they sure won’t put the clients who had bad experiences on the list, right?
Also, the issue with the construction description... Comparing prices is almost impossible because the standards are different or the information is simply missing. Especially the small providers (I call them shell construction companies that also offer turnkey solutions) often have almost nothing – 4 pages of construction description.
How did you make this difficult decision?
