Hello, we have now moved into our new building and want to adjust our household insurance to the new circumstances.

We have an upcoming consultation with a representative. However, since I am very skeptical of these salespeople, I wanted to ask about experiences here in advance.

There apparently is a flat rate for household insurances, which is 650 euros per square meter.
That would be 97,500 euros for our 150 sqm.

That sounds like a lot at first, especially at the beginning when some furniture etc. is still missing, but probably one underestimates the whole thing.

How did you approach the topic? Flat rate? Made a list of valuables yourself? Do you have to pay attention to special things like tool sheds, carports, etc.? Special insurance cases that should not be forgotten?

Ever heard of (mla schauen ob man das schreiben kann check 24)? Just the time spent on a consultation with such a representative would already be worth 2 annual fees to me...

Yes, I have heard of it and have used it many times.

What bothers you about using it for [Hausrat]? You can also play around with the coverage there. You know best yourself what your own stuff is worth. Around 100k is recommended for a normal single-family house. That can be about right if the whole house burns down.

I never claimed that it would bother me. I'm asking here about experiences / prices that others pay, to get a sense of what's important. It's not just about the insured amount, but also, for example, which cases you want to cover with it.

Oh, well basically they cover almost the same things. What was important to me was bicycle theft, that's not included everywhere. That the garage, garden shed, etc. next to the house are also covered. Otherwise, I relied on reviews. I think we pay about 100€/year.
