House construction over winter / risk

People, please don’t complain if this is posted in the wrong place. We are now having the final planning for our bungalow done until the end of October. I think the land purchase will be completed by early December. What I didn’t consider: The planner will complete the project by the end of October. The fixed price won’t be valid forever, which basically means that right after the loan approval and the building permit in January, I will give the start signal. So we will be fully into winter. Weather-related delays are programmed in there. Also, interest on standby loans. Bad timing, right? Has anyone of you built during winter? I have seen that the KfW still wants interest on standby loans after 3 months.

We started in October and moved in during April. So we built throughout the winter. There are of course some delays, and mold can also become a problem, especially when moisture gets into the house, with the [Estrich] and so on.

So we should rather postpone it further,... better to start around the end of February, right?

I would personally at least do it that way. ;) The question is whether that’s so easy on your BU’s side. He probably still has a bit more to do and has his construction projects planned accordingly.

Well, I think I can manage that a bit, especially since building permits take about 3 months here.

You are on the right track if you expect delays and certain problems during the construction. Furthermore, you already know that additional costs are coming your way.
