Hello everyone, I have been using a Genvex/Vanvex 290l Optima hot water heat pump since 2013.

Since I thought these things are maintenance-free, I only replaced the sacrificial anode in 2024, after 11 years of operation.

Now I have seen online that every few years you should open the unit and vacuum out the lime scale and sludge at the bottom with a wet/dry vacuum.

Now a heating and sanitation specialist told me that if you haven’t done any maintenance for 12 years, it is better to just let it be, as there is a risk that it can no longer be sealed properly.
Also, I have seen that hot water heat pumps are already available for under €2000, so paying €500 for maintenance after 12 years may be uneconomical.

Is there an expert here who can confirm this? So better just leave it until the thing breaks down?

Thanks to you all
