Hello dear house-building community,
For some time now, I have been thinking about building a small holiday home for myself and my family in the not-too-distant future. The budget is not very large, but neither are the demands. After some research on how to implement something like this inexpensively, I came across container-like modular houses, such as those from the company Conhouse. I thought the idea was great, and what the brochures showed was also very appealing. However, I don’t want to go into that any further here. My post is rather intended to focus on the building location.
I have been closely connected to the Baltic Sea for 30 years. I would like to place my house there. Even if you get an affordable plot of land, there are countless authorities and offices in Germany, all wanting their piece of the pie. I have almost abandoned the idea of a houseboat because even there it is hardly possible to get a mooring at your desired location. I somehow find it nonsense to make more fuss around a small container house than around the house itself.
My latest thought is therefore to maybe place the house in Sweden or Denmark. That is quickly and easily reachable from our place of residence, Hamburg. Scandinavians are quite relaxed when it comes to setting up tents in the wilderness. ;) I have read that many laws and regulations are handled locally and things like approval have even been completely shifted to the builder.
Has anyone already had experience with building a house in Scandinavia and can give me some tips or advice? Also happy to receive further literature and links. Or am I completely on the wrong track with my idea?
Best regards,
