Hello!

One keeps hearing about it: historical building materials. Do you have any idea what that is? Is it really about building materials that were once present in ancient buildings??

Best regards,
sennor

hi sennor!

when demolition work is carried out, historical building materials are recovered. these can be bricks or floor coverings, but also doors, fireplaces, or garden ornaments. however, how antique the building elements really are should be checked, because much is called antique that may only be 50 years old...

best regards,
yung;)

Hi!

I see...so the materials don't have to be that old to be called "antique." Or is it all a scam? The question is also how to verify that.

Regards,
sennor :)

Hi!

To find out something like that, you can consult an expert. They then make an appointment and take a close look at the property. Afterwards, they can usually tell you how old something is.

Hello sennor,

An expert can tell you how old the parts really are. But most of the time, they are very old floors or old wooden beams, etc. I myself never really knew what they meant by antique. I always just imagined that the parts must be ancient, which is not entirely the case.

hello!

is it really enough to just look at building materials to determine the age? which criteria are actually relevant for age assessment? i would really be interested in that.

best regards,
listchecker :)
