Hello everyone,

We are currently planning our kitchen and want to access the pantry behind it through a "pass-through cabinet."

There needs to be space for a fridge and freezer in the pantry. The question is, how wide does the pass-through cabinet need to be? Is 60cm enough?

The kitchen planners recommend 2x 50cm. I think that's exaggerated. Are there any experience-based values?

60cm is definitely not enough ... I can't even get through with my broad shoulders ...

Refrigerators/freezers start at a size of 60cm in my opinion. You definitely need a bit of extra space then.

Depth-wise, refrigerators start at 56cm, but that already limits your choice. Depending on what you want (Side by Side, for example), you also need more space, including in depth. Besides, you don't always want to walk sideways through such a passage - which you have to go through quite frequently, right? I would tend to a minimum of 80cm passage.

60 cm is also the planned dimension of the standard door for such a passage. The actual passage is likely to be even narrower. I would probably try to access the pantry without choosing such a hidden access from the kitchen, but possibly access via the corridor. Because vacuum cleaners, mops, and other items are often stored there, which are needed more centrally on the floor. For the price of the hidden kitchen passage, you can then treat yourself to a nice tall cabinet with internal drawers for supplies directly in the kitchen.

That is exactly our problem. Apparently, there are only kitchen fronts with a width of 60cm. 2x 50cm does not work for us.

That is not true. Which manufacturer was offered to you? We were told that, for example, Häcker, Schüller, Nolte, Ballerina also have 80cm width. For base cabinets as well. Let's take, for example, the island.
