Hello everyone,

somewhat unexpectedly (we had kind of pushed it out of our minds :D) we are supposed to meet the tiler tomorrow to clarify the bathroom tile layout. We have already planned the whole thing with a projector at a tile market - I would still be grateful for your input. We have three types of tiles in the house - gray, brown, and white. Gray tiles are in the ground floor on the stairs and in the hallway on the upper floor. Brown is supposed to be on the floors in the bedrooms and bathrooms. The wall tiles should generally be white. Now it's about whether and how we want to tile additional areas (stud walls, walls, soap niche) (please ignore the wall colors).

Guest WC:

Small bathroom (the niche is not centered and is not that big - it is about 30x60x10):

Slightly larger bathroom - here we actually had the idea to tile both shower walls white and only the niche (same dimensions as below) brown.

Best regards

Hello,
I generally recommend professionally sealing and tiling wet and splash water areas. I do not want to make any statements about design. You should feel comfortable and also not neglect cleaning and maintenance.
Good luck

My personal opinion is that podiums or also pre-wall installations have a better effect when they are covered with a different tile choice than the rest of the wall. I would therefore cover one or the other podium with the (darker) wall tiles so that it doesn’t look so bare "at the bottom" due to the light tiles – In my opinion, this gives a better spatial effect :)

I personally like it better as well. For the covers, I can also imagine whole slabs. Many hardware stores carry natural stone window sills that can be cut to size for this purpose, or simply stop by the stonemason near you.

Less is more - I would do it exactly like that, i.e. only accents like floor tiles as a cover for the pre-wall installation. That would otherwise be too much of a good thing - maybe pull a strip of the floor tiles up in the shower.
