Hi,

my son bought a small house. Currently, there is only a small wood stove in the living room and a very old oil stove with manual supply in the bathroom. There are no radiators or similar anywhere else in the entire house. The ceiling height is about 2m and we are planning to completely renovate the house (new electrical system, new plumbing, network cables, bathroom, etc.).

Actually, the only problem left is the heating; the rest is pretty much planned out. External insulation is not planned and is not easily possible due to the structural conditions.

We were considering installing an oil or pellet heating system.

I think a small 15-20 kW system would be completely sufficient. Of course, I need to have this calculated by an energy consultant or heating engineer, but in advance I would like to know what alternatives I have.

The hardware should not cost more than €10,000. I will then negotiate the rest with a heating engineer regarding own work and so on. Tools like electric fitting press, thread cutter, slot mill, Hilti, and so on are available.

I am grateful for any ideas.

Thanks

I would consider one (or two) air conditioning units. Andreas Schmitz has a video about it: "DIY Heizung, günstige Alternative zur Wärmepumpe für den Altbau".

I hadn't thought of that (I know the video) actually sounds really cool and with the photovoltaic system and a battery storage it is actually almost within the budget.

Thanks for the tip, I will immediately look into what it will really cost us.

Well, if you leave windows and doors open around the clock, that fits, otherwise it's rather barely oversized [IRONY OFF]
