Hello,
we have had a Vitocal 300-A from Viessmann installed, which has been attached to two basement light wells.

Unfortunately, we have noticed that the rather patchy installation in the light well (see photo) has many gaps and a constant draft from outside can be felt.

Does this light well cover of the heat pump really have to be airtight at all?
Is there really only the method to make the whole thing look ugly with foam sealant?
Or what experiences have you had? How could this be done more efficiently and nicely?

I would really appreciate suggestions and reports of experience.

Hello,
the heating company responsible sprayed the basement light well cover from the outside with UV-resistant construction foam and thus completely sealed it.
We are now satisfied with the solution and the draft is no longer present; however, we mainly received this solution because of our persistence and constant inquiries... the management was very interested in finding a solution from a certain point on and also implementing it uncomplicatedly.
Therefore, the matter is now also fine for us.
Greetings from Saarland

Construction foam is neither waterproof nor airtight - so rather a botched solution :(.

Hello, the description of the used UV-resistant 2-component PU foam says something different... can of course only be advertising promises ;-) ! Ok... my mistake; I should have said right away that no simple construction foam was used.

PU foam is still not airtight - but it can be waterproof ([Brunnenschaum]).

And inside, the pipes are not insulated?
