Hello everyone here,

I want to raise a drywall panel in my bathroom above the mirror cabinet at the same depth after the wooden construction is finally finished. So that it looks as if the mirror cabinet were completely built into the wall.

Does the resulting cavity between the wall and the drywall panel need to be completely airtight? There is no insulation material or anything in there that could absorb moisture. The question arises because there is a lot of electronics in the mirror cabinet above, and therefore ventilation holes lead upwards which would then lead into this cavity..... No splash water gets in, it’s only about humidity...

Because when I cut into the existing insulated drywall wall to make the opening for the mirror cabinet deeper, I would have to seal this opening in the insulated drywall wall completely airtight.

A small sketch of how it looks is attached (only of the top part of the construction in question).

Thanks!
