Hello dear forum,

I would be interested to know how your window sills made of natural stone (e.g. granite) were installed when you have an [WDVS (=EPS)] on the house?

One stonemason says you have to use brackets, another says mounting foam and some mortar is enough. I still have an appointment with a third stonemason but the confusion is already complete for me..

I found a guideline for stonemasons which also specifies the bracket variant.

Do you have long-term experience regarding the technical reliability?
I would like to avoid the window sill being placed directly on the EPS and then eventually giving way?

Regards

Construction foam and silicone always help :-p.

But now seriously. I am not an expert, but if someone comes to me with construction foam for outdoor use where it is permanently exposed to the weather, I would send that person home immediately.

Construction foam neither seals nor is weather-resistant and crumbles after a while.

Then you have already found the answer: Never ever (as they say nicely in Bavaria) can something glued be a suitable support for something heavy. Even botched work holds: until the warranty has expired. The smart one chooses the professional installation method. Whether you really recognize the devil on the horse’s hoof: I don’t know – but the botcher at the construction foam for sure.

Very great contribution :-)))

Thank you very much for your answers, I will probably have it mounted with the consoles then.
