Hello
we built our house with 36.5 aerated concrete blocks. Now we want to glue the house with clinker slips. I have heard so many different things. Now I don't know what is correct.
One says that a base plaster must be applied first. Another says he has been doing it for 30 years and you glue the slips directly onto the blocks. First bonding mortar, then mesh, and afterward the slips.
I actually wanted to glue them onto the lime-cement base plaster. Can the plaster fall off due to the weight of the slips??
How did you do it???

In detail, I can't really say because I'm not a brick veneer fan myself and don't deal with it. But maybe I can shed some light on where different views on whether/what needs to be underneath might come from: Brick slips can be applied to various building materials. Those who think of brick, pumice, or similar walls, with normally sized bricks in thick mortar joints, logically also think of less "flat" wall surfaces. With aerated concrete large blocks in a thin adhesive bed, it's quite different, also with effects on the subsequent steps and most suitable materials.
