Hello,

what do you give someone for moving into their own house?

It can cost a bit more... but the owners have (almost) everything. I was thinking of something practical like a video surveillance system or a new garden hose system.

What else could a new homeowner possibly need?

Hello,
a voucher for the next hardware store is always well received. Otherwise, ask if there is a wishlist (e.g. Amazon). I prefer targeted gifts.

I'm just thinking about what we might still need now or needed after moving in: garden tools, lawn mower, water barrel, composter, mailbox, decorations, plants (indoor/outdoor), shrubs/small trees, garden hose/irrigation system. Of course, all of these might already be available.

Vouchers obviously have a big advantage here: possibilities would be: hardware stores/furniture stores such as Ikea/plant nursery/tree nursery.

Thank you. There are already some great things in there... I wouldn’t have thought of those at all.

... combined with a hardware store or garden center always goes down well

Basically true, if you are sure what would be liked. We received plants for the garden as housewarming gifts, I didn’t even know where to put them... and there is still an insect hotel lying around.
