Hello! We want to build a KFW 55 house, 2 full floors. The plot is 970 sqm in size. The options now are the geothermal heat pump and a pellet heating system. We are not quite sure yet. What do you think, will the costs even out in the long run? Which do you think is the better alternative?

There is an endless amount of information missing about the house, requirements, etc.

There are two completely different heating systems with their own advantages and disadvantages.

Pellets require space, create more mess than heat pumps, etc.

There are different types of geothermal heat pumps:
- Deep drilling
- Surface collector
- Trench collector
As well as other variations

Whether a geothermal collector can be installed at your place at all depends on various factors.

You would need to delve deeper into the topic and specify your questions so that better help can be provided.

Personally, I prefer geothermal heat pumps over pellet heating, but I dare not judge whether that applies to your individual construction project.

What exactly do you still need to know? The house will have a floor area of 90 sqm. The soil survey is still pending. For the geothermal heat pump, a surface collector is planned. I have already heard that over the years the ground can "wave". Is that true? For pellets, there would be an underground tank in the yard.

There will be no basement. Three people will move in.

There is no development plan. The plot is, as mentioned, 970 sqm and has a slight slope, which is to be leveled, although I don't yet know whether by filling or excavation. There will be no fireplace. A garage will stand next to the house. Whether brick or aerated concrete is used is also not yet certain, but at least solid construction. The garden is to be planted mainly with grass, maybe 2 trees and a small bed for the child.
