Gas, solar, ventilation, or heat pump?

Hello,

I am considering which heating system I should use. For a new building of about 115m2. I would like a ventilation system with heat recovery. How much does such a system cost approximately? Or what my general contractor suggests, ventilation with exhaust air heat pump. But I have doubts about a heat pump at all. I think geothermal energy is fine, but way too expensive. How is it with an exhaust air heat pump with hot water? The orientation of the roof is east-west, does solar make any sense there at all?

Thanks in advance for tips

Hello,

There are infinitely many possibilities. Only an external consultation can provide exhaustive information here.
About 6,000€ to 10,000€, depending on configuration and design!

You would have to calculate the energy balances for this!
From the point of view of the primary energy balance certainly, as every saved kWh protects the environment. The cost-effectiveness of a solar thermal system in a single-family house is often marginal.

Best regards

I do not consider an exhaust air heat pump to be effective. Either a complete ventilation system including heat recovery, or just leave it as is. A solar system is only conditionally recommended, depending on the other heat sources. I am currently getting a geothermal heat pump and with an annual performance factor of 4.8, it is very efficient, so in my view a solar system is not worth it. I would rather opt for photovoltaics, which can, if necessary, reduce the electricity cost for my heat pump.

Heat pump annual performance factor 4.8

hello, good day,

an annual performance factor of 4.8 for heat pumps and the earth is flat!

These figures exist only in the glossy brochures of the manufacturers! Reliable figures are around 3.7, and only under ideal conditions, which are found in practice in about 15% of cases. The investment in a ground source heat pump in Germany, whether deep drilling or surface collectors, "pays off" after approx. 27 - 31 years.

For my planned single-family house, the first preference is therefore a gas condensing boiler.

Best regards

F.W.

Hello,

When considering only the heating operation and hot water preparation, gas condensing boilers are often a favorite. Unfortunately, room temperatures/cooling loads increase during the summer heat period because summer thermal insulation is mostly severely neglected. (rising trend) Likewise, the cooling degree days (CDD) increase.
If cooling becomes necessary as a result, heat pumps have the advantage, as gas condensing boilers offer no option here.

Best regards.
