we are planning a new building with a gas heating system and solar for hot water. Now we are considering whether to also add a water-bearing fireplace? How large would the storage tank need to be dimensioned?

Your heating system and your living information correspond exactly to ours. However, our house is still under construction ([underfloor heating will be installed next week]). Your heating engineer should certainly be able to give you precise information. Definitely not too small and not too big. If too big, then the storage tank needs too much energy to heat the water. We have settled on a storage tank of about 200l. But it is not fixed yet. The stove has a total of 8kw. 5kw water and 3kw air

what all of you want to heat... 8 kW stove, ST, and preferably also 10 kW gas? From a business perspective, that makes no sense, unless you get the wood for free.

The size of the buffer or hygiene tank depends on the output of the stove.
If you are interested in a wood heating system, think about how you want to heat and what effort you are willing to make. With a generously sized tank, something like this is also possible as the sole heating system.

With solar + stove, the storage tank must be at least 500 liters. If you install 4 collectors on the roof, better 750 liters, think about the [subsidy]!
