Hello everyone,

we need a new garage roller door. Our old building garage is very narrow and low (2380mm wide and 1900mm high). It was built by the previous owners in the 70s. Therefore, we only use it as a bicycle garage now.

We have an offer for a Hörmann RollMatic T and another for Heroal RD 55. The total price is almost the same at just under 4300 EUR including disassembly and installation. RAL 9016 Anthracite, since our roof will be anthracite.

Hörmann RollMatic T
The roller door alone costs 2500 EUR with a 3-layer DuraBelt to prevent damage from abrasion during rolling up and down. Disassembly/installation is almost 1000 EUR plus a radio code keypad for 95 EUR.

Heroal RD 55
The roller door costs only 2130 EUR, even with an emergency hand crank from the outside. Plus a radio code lock for 90 EUR, but 300 EUR for disassembly and 1000 EUR for installation. There is no DuraBelt-like mechanism here to minimize abrasion during rolling up. But Heroal technology claims that the very narrow slats of just 55mm with a 2-layer thick paint are extremely durable and much better than the extra foil coating in the past. The craftsman who offers Heroal is a long-established local and I generally trust him to take more care with disassembly and installation.

So now I’m standing here and would like to hear from those with a Hörmann or Heroal garage roller door about their experiences. The door can be opened and closed up to 16 times a day, since we are 4 people and each cycles to school/work at different times. Especially regarding abrasion, I would like to know your experiences. Maybe you also have experiences with spare part availability/delivery. Thank you very much!

Best regards
