Garage immediately next to the house wall, any experiences?

Hello everyone,
we are in the process of planning our single-family house and the construction is now becoming more concrete. We plan to build a house using timber frame construction by a local provider: It will be a city villa with a roof overhang of 80 cm. The plan is also to order a prefabricated garage from Rekers. So far, it is planned that the garage will be directly adjacent to the house wall, see drawing. This has the decisive advantage for us that we have optimal garden utilization in the east and south. The garage is located in the west. Now we are unsure whether the planning is really sensible as driving out of the garage almost passes by the pathway to the house entrance. Also, we wanted a somewhat larger step at the house entrance, which I currently do not know if it is still feasible. Additionally, I have read in several forums that there could also be problems with sealing and settlement cracks. I would be very grateful if someone already has experience here. In the end, it is our decision, but at the moment it is difficult for me to visualize everything.

How big or deep your platform in front of the front door should be is up to you. I would not let it extend into the driveway to the garage.

What would bother me more is the garage door to the garden because if there is a second car in there, you will surely have some new dents in the fender very quickly.

The last important point for me would be the order of what comes first. Garage or house? If the house comes first and the neighbor possibly also has a garage on the boundary, installing the garage could become interesting.

The exit towards the garden from the garage only makes sense with a slightly more open carport without a gate. Otherwise, it is better to give the extension a door to the garden. But regarding the question: precisely because of the passage in the parking space room or also the door in the extension as well as the entrance platform, which in my opinion may well have a depth of 1 meter, the garage/carport is then planned one meter wider if the door is planned right next to the outbuilding. Otherwise, in this case, no door of the outbuilding is useful if two cars are parked there. I would also not take a prefabricated garage, but rather have it offered by the house provider so that the connection to the house is properly executed. As it is now, it is simply drawn in and unplanned.

If the intention is to accommodate bicycles in the upper part of the plan, then this should also be examined carefully, including the path to this parking area, if there are 2 cars parked there.

Exterior length 850, so probably a maximum of 800 cm interior length remains. For today's cars, one should plan for around 600 cm to still be able to move around. Then only such a narrow entrance to the bicycle area, this should be tested to see how it works best.

Hello,

thank you very much for your answer.
What exactly would you not leave standing in the driveway to the garage?
I don’t know the depth of the platform yet because everything is still hard to imagine.
Next to our plot everything is still free. But the house will be built first.
The garage door is still drawn incorrectly in the plan. It should be moved a bit further up to the side room.

Hello,
thank you very much for your feedback.
So the door that is supposed to go to the garden will probably be placed in the equipment building, so that one can also use it as a small tool shed from the garden. The garage is significantly more expensive with the house builder, so we decided on this option.
