hello

i have a small dripping spot on a free hot water pipe (1 inch!) in the basement. i removed the insulation because it had brown spots for quite some time. this spot is about 5cm next to a screwed 90-degree elbow.

my first question would be: pipe clamp or cut open?

my second question is if i insert 20 cm of pipe, how do i reconnect the connection on the cut-open side with a new screw connection. i then have the new pipe with thread and the old cut pipe with thread and 2-3 cm space in between. what kind of variable screw connection solution exists for that?

thank you very much for a practical tip

I would say if you already have to ask about such basic things, then you better let a professional handle it.

... malleable iron clamp connectors with internal thread?

Would you do it like that?

I have now ordered a gebo hose clamp. This is a spot about the size of a 10 cent coin. And in the middle, it drips slightly. The hose clamp is exactly the appropriate solution there. In principle, I already know how the pipes look inside. At the neighbor who bought a house of the same construction year `63, the pipes were half clogged.
