Morning collective,

does anyone have experience with using gabions as wall cladding?
My idea: to clad or visually improve a typical cinder block wall (about 1m high and 17m long) with a slim (15-20cm) gabion facing.

I am especially interested in the question of how to fasten the mats, with or without back and side walls, as well as any other difficulties.

Regards and thanks.

I saw something like this a few weeks ago on a "large" scale: The NaturBornholm Museum has a complete multi-story facade in this form (just search for "NaturBornholm" and view the pictures). It therefore seems to work and to be feasible, although with such buildings the cost issue is usually less pressing.

Thank you very much. Yes, indeed, something like that seems to be in fashion or at least not uncommon. I have also found pictures on the net, unfortunately I lack the concrete technical implementation or complete offers for the accessories. My idea: Screw the spacers directly into the wall with eyelets. Furthermore, it is crucial for me whether I need 7-ton gabion stones or only 3 tons and accordingly have to install (store, transport)...
