Hello, we are currently struggling a bit with the calculation of whether our attic is a full storey or not. According to the State Building Code BW, a full storey is
Currently, our knee wall height is just above the 3/4 floor area. Now my question is, what may I include in the floor area of the ground floor? Our double garage is directly adjacent to the house and is accessible directly from the outside via a door. If I am allowed or can include this area, then it is no problem anymore.
In the upper storey, I have to measure the 2.30 m up to the top edge of the roof covering. I am not allowed to consider the clear room height there, right?
Thank you very much
(5) Storeys are above-ground storeys if their ceiling edges protrude on average more than 1.4 m above the ground surface; otherwise, they are basement storeys. Cavities between the top ceiling and the roof covering, in which habitable rooms are not possible, are not storeys.
(6) Full storeys are storeys that protrude more than 1.4 m above the average measured ground surface and are at least 2.3 m high, measured from the top edge of the floor to the top edge of the floor of the above storey or to the top edge of the roof covering of the above roof. The average measured ground surface results from the arithmetic mean of the elevation of the ground surface at the building corners. The following are not full storeys:
1. Storeys used exclusively for housing building services equipment and heating systems,
2. Top storeys where the height of 2.3 m is present over less than three quarters of the floor area of the storey below.
