Hello

we are currently choosing a front door for our new build.

We want one with glass (sandblasted) so that light comes into the hallway.

What type of glass should be installed at a minimum?

Is 6mm laminated safety glass enough or should we upgrade to P4A?

We are using a 3-point automatic locking system so the door is never locked from the inside.

If someone breaks the pane, they can press the door handle and get in.

My question is how secure is 6mm laminated safety glass that has been bonded?
Is that sufficient?

The entire door has a burglary/security class, RC1 to RC5. This includes the complete element with door, frame, glass, lock, bolts, and installation. I don't think you can tune the glass. We have a door (RC3) with a burglary guarantee; if the crook gets through the door, there will be a new door or €3,000 (3 years ago).

If you are worried about the glass in the front door, then you should make it just as secure as all terrace doors and windows on the ground floor. You probably have those in RC3 as well – which then requires impact-resistant glass according to P5A.

All windows on the ground floor are standard triple glazing.

So my assessment was correct that the normal 6mm laminated safety glass glued together is sufficient for safety?
