Hello everyone,

we are currently in the process of choosing a front door design, and I would like to get a few independent opinions from you. Our house is being built in the Münsterland country house style, essentially in this direction:

Our cabin only has gable ends, has more roof overhang, copper, and a dark roof. The entrance area looks similar to the picture above.

Does a front door in natural oak fit with this – inspired by the boards in the gable, which for us are located above the entrance area? We will have the windows in white with muntins, so a white front door like this one (just with narrower side panels) is also under consideration:

For our oak version, you can imagine the above door in natural oak, roughly this color:

Besides the question about the appearance from the outside, I am also interested in whether you can lay oak plank flooring inside right up to the door, or whether that would be visually overwhelming with the oak. Alternatively, have it painted white inside? Or tiles in the hallway...

So many questions... go ahead and let yourselves go.

Here is the front view from the drawing to clarify the distances:

Thank you very much in advance for your opinions!

I would choose the white version, it then becomes an eyecatcher and not just "boring" nature in nature.

I would also choose white, because the entrance should be easy to find and appear inviting. Oak would be too subordinate and inconspicuous for me.

Well, eye-catcher... pilasters and cornices in the masonry, carpentry-style decorations, and capitals with ornamental profiles on the windows are already planned. The purely decorative stuff doesn't have to trigger an epileptic seizure or anything like that in the viewer... that's why we've already more or less ruled out another color. White is still in the running because of the windows, and oak because of the gable cladding.

Maybe combine a white frame with oak? Or frame the glass surfaces in white?
