Hello everyone,

first of all, I am a client and a layperson. During the inspection of our shell construction, I noticed a few things for which I need advice on whether they are within the normal range or if they are defects that should be addressed. Of course, I don’t want to cause unnecessary bad vibes on the construction site!

1) The wastewater pipe in the kitchen is sealed off one-third by the exterior wall (see picture). Can anything even be connected there?

2) For the interior walls, wall anchors are installed every two rows of bricks. On one wall this was apparently forgotten at first and there are only anchors in the upper three rows (see picture).

3) Quite a few bricks are damaged. It’s okay that some corners have broken off here and there. Abut some are also completely cracked. For example, in a window frame (see picture).

4) There are quite large holes above some doors (see picture).

As I said, I am an absolute layperson. Maybe someone can tell me if all this is okay, then I would be relieved :)

Many thanks! Teresa

I do not see the wastewater pipe as a problem; they will manage to free it themselves. I assume that the photos concern the window lintels. Here I find the masonry not okay. The voids and broken bricks at these spots must be replaced/removed, as the entire load of the upper bricks must be supported by the window lintels and the bricks beneath them. The way it looks here, it is shoddy work.

Get an expert on the construction site, there may be bigger errors that you do not even see, but that affect the structural integrity

Don’t just take pictures zoomed in on the details, but show more of the construction in context. Overall, it looks very much like a "Time is Money" shell construction.

It would seem more appropriate to me to stand next to it with a whip. Are you building with Fleischerhaus? :-)

Hi,

well, 1. I don’t see the issue with the drain pipe that relaxed - "they are already levering themselves free" is not the golden solution for a floor outlet in the base plate either - I would definitely file a defect report for that.

2. The masonry is also defective. Such gaps must not be there and the supports on the columns must not be designed like that either.
As mentioned above, pictures capturing the overall situation would be very helpful and then quickly drafting a letter. I can also assist with that.
In which federal state is this?

Best regards, Jann
