Hello everyone,

we are currently working on the plans for a detached single-family house and I am currently having trouble with the roof. I hope you can give me some input on this...

Regarding the facts:
The current planning of the house foresees a monopitch roof with a roof pitch of 6°. The developer we want to build with plans the following roof construction:
- Wooden construction made of structural solid wood
- Boarding with tongue-and-groove boards
- Polyester fleece
- Sealing using Trocal SGK foil 1.5mm
- Edge cover made of aluminum composite sheet

I don’t feel 100% comfortable with sealing using foil and have suggested sealing via titanium zinc sheet as an alternative. Unfortunately, this option was not very well received by the developer – mainly due to noise when it rains.

Three questions arise for me:
- Are my concerns about the use of foil justified or is it just a “perceived” problem?
- Is the titanium zinc sheet option really that noisy with proper installation and insulation (Kfw 70 house)?
- Should significant additional costs be expected when using titanium zinc sheet? As far as I know, an additional separating layer must be inserted to achieve the roof’s waterproofness.

Many thanks & best regards

Hendrik

Hello

I have nothing to say about the slide.

Properly installed, the rain is not a problem.
The additional costs are certainly considerable.

I am also planning a shed roof with a 3.5 - 4 ° roof pitch and am wavering between bitumen and metal.
In a conversation with a specialist company for metal roofing, the objection was raised that with my desired roof pitch a standing seam covering is not a sufficient and permanently tight roofing.

I would estimate the costs for the zinc standing seam covering at about 100 - 120 €/m² finished work.

Currently, I am considering Kal-Zip, as it can be used for roofs from 2.5°.
Costs about 80 €/m² finished work or about 40 €/m² material.

Hello Olli,

I have also read a bit about Kal-Zip, but unfortunately I could not find many reviews on the internet. What were you able to find out about the noise level during rain with Kal-Zip?

Regards

Hendrik
