Hello everyone,

My girlfriend and I are currently planning to convert an existing old cattle barn, unused for 20 years, into living space on my father's agricultural farm. We have already created the attached floor plan and would like to hear your opinions on it.

Some additional information about the floor plan:
- At the bottom is the driveway and a lightly used road runs along there;
- Only the ground floor is to be developed, about 200 sqm of living space;
- On the left, the barn adjoins directly to the existing residential building;
- The entrance is at the bottom right;
- On the right, the farm continues (machine hall etc.);
- At the back is a field that belongs to us.

Do you need any more information? Feel free to ask your questions.
What is your impression of the floor plan? What would you do differently? What should definitely be considered?

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Great idea - great project.

However, you should also photograph the plan flat, as it is displayed too distorted in its narrow and long form.

I like it. The only thing I would criticize is that Child 1 has only a small window.

Roughly to see: I would enlarge the hallway a bit. If all the shoes and coats for four people are to be stored in winter, it will get tight and the wardrobe will quickly end up on the dining room chairs. I would place the main bathroom between the parents and children. On the one hand better for short water pipes, on the other hand short walking distances for use, as well as a buffer between parents and children. Please access the parents’ room via the dressing area, otherwise it will be inconsiderate to those still sleeping. Where is north? Draw your furniture and see if it fits. Regards

Child 1 unfortunately has only 1 window. However, this is planned as a floor-to-ceiling window. Since the construction project is located in an outdoor area, we are partially somewhat restricted. The external appearance must be largely preserved.

Enlarging the hallway is a good idea, but then we would have to include one more window, which we would then be missing in the living area. Definitely a good point, but in my opinion it is difficult to implement. Or do you have a more precise idea?

We deliberately placed the main bathroom at the back due to its size. Also because of the view you have, which of course you cannot see here. In addition, the children's rooms are separated from the terrace area. That was our thought behind it.
