Flat screen hood - door hinge does not fit

We have a flat screen hood and we wanted to install it in the exhaust hood wall cabinet. Unfortunately, the upper part of the exhaust hood is so deep and almost as wide as the wall cabinet, so the lower door hinge does not fit. How would you solve this? Simply drill a new recess with a special drill?

What was the hood manufacturer thinking in the assembly instructions. The Ikea wall cabinets are not any less deep than others, there should be space for the hinge. My Bosch flat hood becomes correspondingly narrower after a few centimeters. I don't understand what the new pot drilling in the door achieves if the whole hood is as deep as the cabinet.
