Hello dear forum,

A few months ago we fulfilled our dream of owning a home. We moved in recently and still have quite a bit to do.
To my question: We plan to completely renovate the outdoor area. This means:
- Tear up the driveway asphalt and then pave it
- Tear up the concrete "terrace" at the back of the house and make a really nice terrace
Privacy fence and much more.

My fear now is that when we start doing this, we might hit some cables.
Unfortunately, the previous owner had no documents showing where they are.
Where can one inquire about something like this?
Are there any archives at the municipal office that can provide information about this?
I would be very grateful for helpful answers.
Thank you very much in advance and I wish you a nice evening

As a rule, you can ask your respective network operators for current wiring diagrams.

Well, but only the pipes that have been publicly surveyed are in there. For gas, for example, this is common. If he laid the sewage, water, and electrical lines himself (which is quite common), these are of course not shown.

So with us, the wastewater pipe must also be submitted for approval on private property, so it can be viewed by the municipality. All other supply lines are planned by the respective providers and must then be implemented exactly as planned. At least the providers can tell you the location of the handover points at the property boundary; you know the location of the house entry yourself. There is rarely much detour between these points.

Well, the question is only how long this regulation has existed and whether anything has ever been changed? Basically, you just have to be careful. It is a gamble. Keep money in reserve for any repairs.

That sounds like "only" superficial measures. Normally, there are no lines or pipes there.

Or do you want to excavate really deep?
