We need to keep searching now. The municipalities in the surrounding area do not have suitable building land. What ideas do you have for us. Place an ad? Does that help. Have a real estate agent look for something? Call the banks? I am interested in your stories. Best regards Xinette

When we still wanted to build, we had exactly 2 sources: the aforementioned municipalities (also looked a bit further away) and ImmobilienScout. It was such that the offerings from both sources never overlapped, so we had the widest possible selection that was accessible without driving around or making calls. However, it ended up being an old building (luckily, I have to say in hindsight).

Write to all municipalities, especially the building authorities. Often the homepage is the best starting point. There you can find the contact persons. They often already know a lot more and provide information about new building areas. Then you can put yourself on an interested parties list right away. Usually, you will be informed immediately about any news. Possibly also browse newspapers and advertisements. But usually, the plots of land that no one wanted before end up there. Generally, such things are sold within the circle of acquaintances beforehand. So always keep your ears open.

Ask the building authority for a register of building gaps, then find out the owners and ask if they want to sell. The advantage is that neighboring buildings are already there and can be better taken into account during planning.

ImmoScout, Immowelt and a third internet portal. Set search requests there with immediate email notification and then constantly keep an eye on the email inbox. Such amenities from the community that the previous speakers describe do not exist here in Berlin.

We chose a place that is growing and occasionally develops new building areas. It was important to us that the place is not disadvantaged by demographic change, but still has a local atmosphere.

Visited the website, found the available plots there, printed out the information, and then "walked" several times on the plots.

It ended up being the second-best plot. Our first choice had too steep a slope.

Building gaps: I had followed that once and found that even in older building areas, the most unattractive building gaps eventually disappear. Sometimes people seem to build twice and don’t want to leave their neighborhood.

Greetings, torsan
