First of all, hello everyone and thank you for the many informative posts.
We have also started building a house and are currently in the shell construction phase. (Earthworks, strip foundations + slab are completed).
Our plot was at the very back about 1m lower than the street, so material was removed, filled up, and compacted; at the back we left the plot at the original level (requirement in the development plan). It looks good on site, but two things make me think a bit:
1) On the left towards the neighbor, we have a raised area of 0.8m height and 3m width, where a small terrace and a nice hillside garden are to be created; at the back, 0.8m height and 4m width, which we also want to shape landscaping-wise in a nice way. How can this be properly supported? Is a dry stone wall sufficient? Or is it better to work with L-shaped stones?
2) The foundations were only set at a depth of 0.9m, i.e. at the rear they are then only 0.1m in the compacted soil, and around the foundations at these points there are only the fillings of 3m and 4m width. Does this pose a problem regarding settlement, lack of earth pressure, or something similar?
I have attached two views for you, I hope this helps you understand!
Thanks for your assessment
