Hello everyone!

I am new here in the forum. My name is Christoph, I come from Upper Austria and live in my parents' house, which I will inherit someday.

Now I have set up a small kitchen-living area in my sister’s former bedroom. The dining table is located in a niche that is about 1.2 m deep and 2.1 m wide, with a room height of 2.5 m. The problem is that the deeper you sit back against the wall in the niche, the more extreme the echo is. It is especially bad when someone has a somewhat deeper loud voice. What options are there to minimize this? I have already thought about sound-absorbing panels that I could attach to the ceiling. Would that have an effect? If yes, are such things available at affordable prices or can I make them myself with my skills as a master locksmith?

Thanks in advance and if you have further questions, don’t hesitate.

Best regards, Christoph
