Hello everyone,

I received the latest drawing for our main bathroom with sauna today. I would appreciate it if some of the experienced users and other home builders could share their opinions on it.

The interior walls are fully built, including the sauna wall. I hope I have correctly specified the interior dimension of the sauna as 2.30m in the shell construction. I believe the additional wall construction should not exceed 15cm, which would leave 2.00m for the lying surfaces, which should be sufficient.

The roof window in the bathroom probably cannot be moved further forward, as the carpenter has already finished manufacturing it. Closing it is of course possible. I still have slight concerns that the window might look a bit cramped there. But the extra light appeals to me, and there is more space for standing and sitting under the double casement window.

The bathtub is to be a Squaro Edge in 190x90. Washbasins 80 or 90cm wide, the toilet is an iCon Rimfree, shower is a Bette 100x120cm in steel.

We have 2 drainpipes for wastewater. One is at the top right in the plan, one between the washbasins and the toilet. Question: Do both need to be vented through the roof?

I would also appreciate suggestions for a different arrangement of the sanitary fixtures.

Thank you.

If I were to change anything at all, I would place the bathtub under the slope, that is, rotate it. This would have the advantage that you have more space for headroom in front of it, resulting in a square floor area and not this narrow "hallway" between the shower and the bathtub. The bench isn't really suitable for sitting anyway ;) How high is the knee wall?

Hello Yvonne,

I thought the bench could be moved a little further forward. The knee wall is 1.03m, but under the window you have 1.50m directly, if the drawing is correct.

...probably still gives you a crooked back. I would then put the bench opposite the shower, so swap the bench and the tub. The bench will probably be built up to the height of the tub and tiled? Then it will serve as a shelf anyway ;) you can also sit well on the edge of the tub. Or do you want to drink tea or rest there after the sauna?

That's roughly what we had in mind. I wanted to have the bench built a bit lower, then with a few compartments underneath for sauna towels. The seating surface perhaps even made of wood.

Turning the bathtub under the window will not work very well. In the area of the window, there can be no false wall because the window has to be installed at a height of 1.40 m directly at the "kink" between knee wall and roof slope or just above it.

So the bench is also lower than the bathtub.

Oh, I see, yes then :)
Then I would even make the seat/lying surface a bit lower, so a bit wider
